Solarwinds Patch Manager on distributed network

Hello everybody,

I have some question about Solarwinds Patch Manage.

I'm working on a 3rd patch management inside a distributed network.

My manager already bought the Solarwinds patc manager licence and he want me to deploy an architecture like in the scenario 2 (see Patch Manager documentation).

On our distributed network we have a central WSUS server and on each other site a WSUS Replica downstream server.

We have already deploy the PAS on a dedicated VM and we have connected it to the Central WSUS server.

In Scenario 2 i saw that i should install automation role servers on each WSUS downstream server in order to only use port 4092 (and not the rpc/wmi ports)

I have already read the entire Patch Manager documentation but many things are not clear in my head.

Questions:

How can i create a repository for 3rd patch on Central WSUS Server?

Can i do it from the Central console?

Do i need to configure WSUS?

Does i need to create a repository on each downstream server?

Repository is the autamation role server?

Once the repository created and if i publish  Notepad++  application update(for example) to the central WSUS server, did i need to deploy the update on each downstream server or just wait the replication from  WSUS central server?

Can you help me to understand and find the good way to manage the distributed network?

I'm newbie on Patch management Environment and sorry for my ugly and poor english.

Thanks for you help.

Baptiste
